Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion committee

Our Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion committee monitors our commitment and we provide ongoing and regular training to staff to ensure that they fully understand issues relating to Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion. Riverside College is a Disability Confident Employer, College Policies are in place and we embed Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion in all teaching and working practices.

Events

In addition to this, Riverside College celebrates Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion through a calendar of events (link here) and works closely with a number of Local and National Charities. To name a few, this year we celebrated Black History month, recognised World Aids Day, World Men’s Day which focused on Men’s mental Health, International Day of Women and Girls in Science, we met with the LGBT Community and we ran our annual Race For Hope.

Staff Health & Wellbeing

At Riverside College we are committed to prioritising and promoting Staff Health & Wellbeing. We support and encourage Staff to take a proactive approach to manage their wellbeing with the use of the resources and the support available in the College. Staff Health & Wellbeing is embedded in College life, including within our recruitment and induction process, return to works, probations and CPD days.

The College has relevant policies in place and has a Staff Health & Wellbeing Strategy for the academic year 2024-2025, which can be viewed here here

This strategy sets out a whole College approach to staff health and wellbeing, so that staff feel they can make positive choices for their own wellbeing and access relevant support when needed. The Strategy highlights 6 areas of Wellbeing- Physical, Mental, Social, Emotional, Financial and Environmental, which are emphasised in Wellbeing Week and relevant days.

The college has trained 40 Mental Health First Aiders and has committed to the Mental Health at Work Commitment, as we are key to support and follow their 6 standards:
